Are you ready to meet the ultimate showstopper of cactus? Introducing the one and only Scarlet Ball Cactus, known as Parodia haselbergii (Notocactus haselbergii), a stunning member of Parodia genus, native to Brazil! Its unique fluffy white dots with wispy spines make it stand out among other cacti.
The various fascinating shapes and forms that cacti can take, from small and solitary to enormous and branching (0.17 - 0.5 ft. tall), and any combination in between, constantly evoke the beauty and tranquility of the desert landscape. This hardy adorable cactus can be used as a showcase plant in artistic pots or as a contrasting color element in your rockery garden.
Plus, propagation through seeds or divisions is super simple! But that's not all - from early spring, clusters of vibrant blooms develop along its stalk adding even more charm to this already delightful plant. This scarlet ball cacti flower, which is self-fertile and does not offset, will stand out for its incredibly short flower tubes. It's like a little garden masterpiece!
But what really sets it apart! is just how easy it is to care for – requiring only Full sun (bright light) and minimal watering. To grow a cactus successfully, the soil must be fast-draining. Poor drainage soil, even if watered properly, could damage the roots. These plants favor a well-drained soil mix with specialized cactus potting soil, so it's easy to find a cactus potting mix here at Planet Desert. It's like a little garden masterpiece!
But that's not all – it's also an extremely drought-tolerant species and requires minimum attention.
