Alocasia Dragon Scale Mint is one of the most extraordinary rare aroids in the houseplant world. Its thick, rigid leaves are covered in a raised, deeply textured surface that mimics the scales of a dragon in a cool mint-green to silvery tone, with dark contrasting veins running through each leaf. It is a sculptural, otherworldly plant that looks like it belongs in a greenhouse collection — and now it can live in yours.
Good for beginners? It requires more attention than beginner plants. Alocasia Dragon Scale Mint prefers consistent humidity, bright indirect light, and evenly moist soil. It rewards growers who understand Alocasia care.
Safe for cats and dogs? Alocasia is toxic to pets if ingested. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
Light needs: Bright indirect light is essential. Avoid direct sun which can bleach the distinctive scale texture. Insufficient light causes slow growth and loss of the metallic sheen.
Care at a glance: Keep soil lightly moist but never waterlogged. Well-draining soil is important. High humidity keeps leaves looking their best — mist regularly or place near a humidifier. Feed monthly in spring and summer.
