With its dense, compact growth habit and dark green foliage, Vintage Jade Distylium is an ideal choice for foundation plantings, hedges, or as a groundcover.
The Overall Plant
Vintage Jade Distylium is a hybrid cultivar that belongs to the witch-hazel family (Hamamelidaceae). It is a versatile and hardy plant, thriving in USDA hardiness zones 7 to 9. The shrub typically reaches a height of 3 to 4 feet and spreads up to 5 feet wide, forming a dense, mounding shape. It is adaptable to various soil types and pH levels, and is also drought-tolerant and resistant to pests and diseases.
The Foliage
The foliage of Vintage Jade Distylium is one of its most attractive features. The evergreen leaves are elliptical, glossy, and have a deep green hue that remains vibrant throughout the year. The dense foliage provides a lush, full appearance that adds texture and visual interest to any landscape.
In addition to its aesthetic appeal, the foliage of Vintage Jade Distylium is also functional. The shrub's dense growth habit makes it an effective privacy screen or hedge, while its low-growing nature allows it to serve as an excellent groundcover, helping to suppress weeds and prevent erosion.
