🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sun to prevent leaf scorch. Ideal near east or north-facing windows or under grow lights in darker European homes.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Loves high humidity – mist regularly or use a humidifier, especially during dry winters to prevent crispy edges.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Prefers a well-draining, airy mix with peat, perlite, and orchid bark. Repot every 1–2 years in spring to refresh nutrients and support healthy root growth.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Toxic to pets if ingested due to calcium oxalate crystals. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs to avoid irritation or stomach upset.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Moderate-growing with leaves reaching over 40 cm wide as it matures. Propagate via division of offsets during repotting for new plants.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Reduce watering in winter when growth slows. Clean large leaves gently with a damp cloth to remove dust and enhance their stunning dark sheen.
🐛 Common Issues
Prone to spider mites, thrips, or aphids in dry conditions – maintain high humidity and inspect regularly. Yellowing leaves often indicate overwatering or poor drainage.
