Cultivation Conditions

▼

Light Requirements

Chambeyronia macrocarpa 'Hookeri' thrives in bright, indirect light or partial shade. It can tolerate some direct sunlight but may require protection from the harsh midday sun to prevent leaf burn. Ideal locations include filtered light conditions or under the canopy of taller trees.

Temperature Preferences

This palm prefers warm, tropical climates with temperatures ranging from 20-30 °C (68-86 °F). It is sensitive to frost and should be protected from temperatures below 10 °C (50 °F). In cooler climates, it is best grown in a container that can be moved indoors or to a sheltered area during winter.

Soil Requirements

The Hooker's Red Palm prefers well-draining, rich soil with good organic content. A mix of loam, sand, and compost is ideal. It can adapt to various soil types but performs best in slightly acidic to neutral conditions. Proper drainage is essential to avoid root rot.

Water Management

Regular watering is crucial, especially during the growing season. Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. Reduce watering frequency in the winter or cooler periods when growth slows.

Planting and Care

▼

Planting Location

Choose a location with bright, indirect light or partial shade. Ensure the soil is well-draining and enriched with organic matter. If planting in a container, select a pot with adequate drainage holes and use a well-draining potting mix.

Fertilization Program

Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer formulated for palms or general-purpose plants every 4-6 weeks during the growing season. This supports healthy growth and vibrant foliage. Reduce fertilization during winter.

Maintenance and Pruning

Regularly prune dead or damaged fronds to maintain a tidy appearance and promote new growth. Chambeyronia macrocarpa 'Hookeri' is generally resistant to pests and diseases but should be monitored for common issues such as scale insects or spider mites and treated as needed.

Growing from Seeds

▼

Seed Preparation

For best results, use fresh seeds. Soak the seeds in warm water for 24-48 hours to help soften the seed coat and improve germination rates.

Sowing Process

Sow seeds in a well-draining seed-starting mix, such as a blend of peat, perlite, and sand. Plant the seeds about 1-2 cm (0.5-1 inch) deep.

Germination Conditions

Keep the seed tray in a warm, humid environment with temperatures around 25-30 °C (77-86 °F). Maintain consistent moisture without waterlogging. Germination can take several weeks to a few months, so patience is essential.

Seedling Care

Once seedlings emerge, provide them with bright, indirect light and keep the soil consistently moist. Gradually acclimate them to more direct light as they grow. Transplant seedlings into larger pots or directly into the garden when they are large enough to handle.

A masterfully written, stunning, gothic romance!
Format: Kindle
Lucian Blackthorne . . . my, my, my. Be still my romantic, sinful, dark heart. This male lead is one of the most addicting, flawed, sensual, erotic characters I've ever read. fanning myself I loved his dark, thrill-seeking, possessive, obsessive, carnal nature. Seriously, where can I find one? I digress. Lucian is a scarred man with secrets but that's only the tip of the proverbial iceberg. He's layered as deeply as an onion and it's addicting to peel back each one. He's a rich, powerful alpha male but there's so much to the man the town refers to as the Devil of Bonesalt. He's marked by loss, lies, a painful past, and the shadows of his choices in life. The Blackthorne name bears tragedy, turmoil, and an affiliation with the macabre. Isadora is a strong female lead. She's young but her life hasn't been easy. She's flawed, haunted by the past, and as much an outcast as her new employer, the enigmatic, elusive Lucian Blackthorne. Her new position brings her into the fold, learning the darkness, deceit, sadness, and crimes elicited against the Blackthorne family. It only takes one night, one passionate encounter with the master of salt and bones to change her life forever. Scandal, intrigue, tortured hero, suspense, thrills, mind-blowing twists, jaw-dropping secrets, and enough sensual bedroom scenes to set your kindle on fire. This is a MUST READ. One of the best reads of 2022 for me. LOVED it!!

“There are darknesses in life and there are lights. You are one of the lights...The light of all lights.” - Master of Salt & Bones. REVIEW: This book follows Isa who lives with her aunt on an island. Isa begins a new job as a caretaker for the dark, and mysterious Blackthorne family. A family who is disliked and even feared by the rest of the inhabitants of the island. However, as she grows closer to the man who they call the devil, Lucian Blackthorne, Isa sees for herself what the truth of Blackthorne manor really is. This book is a dark romance! Originally I was told it was fantasy, which I don’t agree with at all. It is more of an erotic, gothic feel with some mystery sprinkled in. The plot was very interesting and kept me intrigued. This book was also quite steamy, however, I felt those scenes were well done and didn’t take away from the rest of the book. Overall, the content in this book is quite dark and the backstories of the characters involve potentially triggering matters. Be aware to look these up if you feel like you need to. Overall, this is the first book I have read by Keri Lake, and I am excited to read more. SYNOPSIS: When I was a little girl, I dreamed a handsome knight would come and rescue me from my wretched mother. He'd ride up on his white steed and break the curse I've been fated to carry since the day I was born. Funny how things changed over time. How the fairy tale twisted into something far more crooked, darker than I ever imagined. In reality, my knight is scarred and broken, living alone in a castle of bones that overlooks the sea. He isn’t searching for me. He never was. Lucian Blackthorne is as cursed as I am, and equally shunned by the locals, the fishers of men, who believe him to be the devil in the flesh. Perhaps he is, with the way his amber eyes draw me in, ignite me like an infernal blaze. And the sins he whispers in my ear are as wickedly intoxicating as the man himself. Yet, his touch is heaven and his will is my weakness. He calls us forbidden, an unsalvageable tragedy, with no happy end. Maybe we are. But in this story, he’s the one who needs saving.

one of my top reads of 2023 🖤
Format: Paperback, Format: Paperback
Master of Salt & Bones by Keri Lake review (no spoilers) ♾️/5 ⭐️ 4/5🌶️ 🏰gothic dark romance 🎹murder/mysteries 🏰age gap 🎹spicy 🏰touch her & d!e 🎹secret society 🏰dual POV & a past timeline for Lucian “we’re the composers, the conductor’s of our own fate, and we write the notes to a beautiful, dark melody that no one else can hear.” this book was AMAZING ❤️‍🔥 i couldn’t put this book down for anything . this book gives beauty & the beast / phantom of the opera vibes with a lot more going on . Lucian hires Isadora to help take care of his mom, not his nurse but a companion for her . Isadora has a painful past & she’s willing to do anything to get out of town to make some money , even if that means working for a guy with a thousand bad rumors about him . the way Lucian talks to Isadora is like he’s speaking poetry without even trying . the wording & quotes in this book were chiefs kiss . the spice in this book was gold 🔥 the plot of this book is super original & sooooo twisty . i think there were 5 different twists at the end & i had my jaw on the floor at all of them . literally obsessed with this book . the writing was beautifully done 🫶🏼 this is my first book by Keri & i will now be ordering more from her immediately🖤 this book is definitely in my top reads of the year! as always check your TW 🤍
