A Refined Relative of the Queen Victoria Agave
We’re excited to introduce Agave nickelsiae, formerly known as Agave ferdinandi-regis—a highly sought-after agave closely related to the iconic Queen Victoria Agave. This elegant species features a more open, sculptural growth habit, making it a standout choice for collectors, modern landscapes, and container displays.
Native to Mexico, Agave nickelsiae combines refined beauty, compact size, and low-maintenance care into a true living sculpture.
🌵 Key Features & Growing Habits
Slow-Growing & Compact 🌱
Agave nickelsiae grows slowly into a beautifully proportioned rosette, reaching a mature size of approximately 18" tall × 18" wide. Its manageable size makes it ideal for small gardens, patios, and decorative containers.
Sun & Heat Loving ☀️
Thrives in full sun and intense heat, performing exceptionally well in hot, dry climates and water-wise landscapes.
Cold Tolerant (With Good Drainage) ❄️
While it prefers warmth, this agave can tolerate short periods down to approximately 10°F when kept dry during winter. Excellent drainage is essential to prevent rot in cold conditions.

Once established, Agave nickelsiae requires very little attention—making it perfect for gardeners who want maximum visual impact with minimal effort.
