Plant Care

Light: Provide your String of Fishhooks with bright, indirect sunlight. It thrives in moderate, indirect light. Ensure it receives ample natural light, but protect it from direct, intense sunlight, which can cause leaf scorch.

Temperature: Maintain a warm indoor environment with temperatures between 70-80°F (21-27°C). Protect the plant from cold drafts and temperature fluctuations.

Watering: Allow the soil to dry out partially between waterings. Water sparingly but thoroughly, and avoid overwatering to prevent root rot. During the growing season (spring and summer), water more frequently, and reduce watering in the dormant season (fall and winter).

Soil: Use well-draining cactus or succulent potting mix to ensure proper drainage and prevent waterlogged soil. A mix of potting soil, perlite, and sand is suitable.

Pot: Ensure the pot has drainage holes to prevent water accumulation at the root level. String of Fishhooks prefers slightly crowded conditions and does not require frequent repotting.

Fertilization: Feed your plant lightly with a balanced, water-soluble succulent fertilizer diluted to half strength every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Avoid over-fertilizing, as it can harm the plant.

Pests: String of Fishhooks is generally pest-resistant, but occasional mealybugs or aphids may appear. Inspect your plant regularly and treat any infestations promptly with insecticidal soap or neem oil.

Trying to limit the sound from the basement.
I still am in process of evaluating the function of these but from an early assessment they do seem to help take the noise down a peg. I have installed these between the joists in my basement so that as my kids get ramped up playing video games it could possibly help prevent the sound from rattling the house. I did not need to use the sticky side for this as I was able to slide them in place around other things to hold them still. With four panels I have ok coverage of the area and if they continue to prove effective I will get more to fill out the area even more. They appear well made and of good size but I am not an expert in sound absorbing materials. Still so far so good.

Not like egg-crate foam, but these look nice and help with noise
Everyone is putting these on the walls. I opted for the ceiling. Back in the middle of the pandemic, I converted a corner of a back-room/work-room into a home office space for my work-from home activities. It's a basement, and so it's concrete walls, but I did my best to put things on or in front of the concrete to dampen sound. But I didn't spend any time thinking about the open-rafter ceiling, which is really just the main-level floor. That's where these (and a couple other) sound-reducing tiles came in. I tacked some packs of these overhead, and immediately noticed a fair reduction in noise in my "office," as well as noise from upstairs. But they also had the effect of reducing my ceiling height, making it easier to warm the space when it's cold. And they look good doing it, providing a pretty nice ceiling. These tiles are not very thick, not like true acoustic wall materials. So you're not going to get the sound dampening of egg-crate foam. But they do offer some degree of reduction in ambient noises. And they don't cost a lot. Overall, I'm pleased and think I need to order more for some other areas of the room.

Noticeable Echo Reduction in My Shop
I installed these panels in a shop where sound tends to bounce around quite a bit. The panels were easy to cut to fit the wall and lightweight enough to mount with double-sided tape. The material feels dense and well-made, and I immediately noticed a difference in echo reduction. These helped dampen ambient noise without changing the look of the room too much. They don’t block out sound completely, but they definitely make a noticeable improvement in room acoustics.
