Dazzle Rocks Sea Lavender (Limonium gmelinii 'ST3 10')

Dazzle Rocks Sea Lavender is a compact, sun-loving perennial that brings a long season of airy lavender-purple bloom without demanding constant care. It forms a tidy rosette of gray-green foliage, then sends up delicate flower sprays that keep beds and containers looking light and finished through summer. This is a strong choice for dry, hot sites where you still want dependable color and pollinator activity. The blooms also hold well for cutting and drying, so your garden color can keep working indoors.

Distinctive Features

This plant stands out for its frothy, branched sprays of small lavender-purple flowers held above a dense, low-growing rosette of gray-green leaves. Bloom typically runs from early summer into fall, creating a long-lasting haze of color that layers easily with bolder perennials. The compact, well-branched habit stays neat and space-efficient, and it handles heat and drought well once established. It is also known for tolerating coastal conditions, including soils with higher salinity, when drainage is strong.

Growing Conditions

  • Sun: Full sun for best flowering and a tight, sturdy habit.
  • Soil: Well-drained soil is essential, and sandy, gritty, or lean soils are ideal.
  • Water: Water regularly in the first season, then water occasionally; drought tolerant once established.
  • USDA Zones: 5 to 9.
  • Mature Size: About 14 to 16 inches tall and 14 to 16 inches wide.
  • Deer: Not well documented, protect if browsing pressure is high.

Ideal Uses

  • Focal Point: Mass several plants as a low, frothy focal point that reads like a lavender-purple cloud in summer.
  • Rock Gardens: Perfect for gravel beds and rocky pockets where drainage is fast and heat is intense.
  • Borders: Adds airy texture and long bloom to the front or mid-border without feeling heavy.
  • Containers: A strong container plant for sunny patios when you want a tidy footprint and continuous flower display.
  • Cut and Dried Flowers: Excellent for bouquets and dried arrangements because the flower sprays hold their form well.

Low Maintenance Care

  • Establishment: Water consistently during the first growing season to build deep roots and long-term drought tolerance.
  • Watering: Once established, water deeply only when soil is dry several inches down.
  • Pruning: Cut back spent flower stems to keep the plant tidy and encourage continued flowering.
  • Soil Management: Improve drainage with grit or raised planting if soil is heavy or stays wet.
  • Winter Care: Leave the basal foliage, then clean up old stems in late winter to early spring.

Why Choose Dazzle Rocks Sea Lavender?

  • Long Bloom Season: Blooms from early summer into fall for steady, dependable color.
  • Heat and Drought Tolerance: Handles hot, dry conditions well once roots are established.
  • Compact Form: Stays neat and space-efficient, making it easy to place in beds and pots.
  • Pollinator Value: High flower count supports bees and other beneficial insects through the warm season.
  • Design Texture: Airy bloom sprays add a light, finishing layer that pairs with almost any planting style.

If you want long-season color that looks refined rather than loud, Dazzle Rocks Sea Lavender is a smart upgrade for sunny, well-drained sites. Use it to soften the edge of stone, brighten dry borders, or add a clean, modern texture in containers. Keep drainage sharp and avoid overwatering, and it will stay reliable year after year. With blooms that work in the garden and in arrangements, it is an easy plant that keeps paying you back.

Size up
Size: 2 Big Kid, Color: Black/Pink
My daughter loves them. However they run a size small so we had to size up. She is anywhere from a 13-1 and we had to get a 2 in these. Overall great show and quality. She also just learned how to tie her shoe (7yo) and they are easy for her to tie. Style is great for running and sports too. Overall great value for the money.

These shoes make a great first impression, but beware of the stingy toe box.
Size: 13.5 Wide Big Kid, Color: Black/Orange
These shoes make a good first impression. They look sharp and appear to be well-made for running shoes. They also get bonus points for having actual laces instead of the common velco/fake laces combo. However, my son struggled to get them on at first due to limited room in the toe box. He has wide feet as well as high arches and the shoes were very snug across the top of his foot initially. Once he got them on, we determined that they were both wide enough (which is a rarity in itself) and the right size – just tight across the top. I actually had to remove the insoles to get them on his feet at first. After a few minutes I tried again with the insoles and he wore them around the house for a few hours, at which point the upper material had relaxed and/or the footbed had started to take on the shape of his foot, in effect creating more wiggle room. By then he didn't want to take them off, so they must have gotten more comfortable after that brief break-in period. If they were still too tight I'm sure he would have complained. I'll update the review if the shoes wear out prematurely or there is anything else noteworthy to report.

Sole separation
Size: 3 Big Kid, Color: Black/Orange, Size: 3 Big Kid, Color: Black/Orange
I really dont like to write reviews, let alone a negative one. Have had the shoe 1 month and the out sole on both shoes are peeling up. Normally we have had great success with saucony shoes for my boys. But this one we haven't had good luck. I have been super gluing the soles back down everything they peal up. Hopefully this is just a 1 off incident. Both side of one shoe and a large chunk of the heal on the other. You can see the glue marks and separation in pictures.
