A climbing masterpiece: Monstera adansonii "Monkey Leaf" on moss pole
Monstera adansonii "Monkey Leaf" | Large P16 H65 cm | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Toxic to pets
Summary: With its striking hole-patterned leaves and climbing habit, this Monstera adansonii "Monkey Leaf" on a moss pole is the perfect green statement for European homes.
✨ Why You'll Love the Monstera adansonii "Monkey Leaf"
- Distinctive perforated foliage that brings tropical vibes indoors
- Large size (P16, H65 cm) – instant jungle impact for German apartments
- Comes pre-trained on a moss pole for upright, lush growth
- Excellent air purifier for fresher, healthier indoor spaces
🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light but tolerates moderate shade. Avoid harsh midday sun which can scorch leaves. Ideal for living rooms, offices, or hallways with filtered light.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep the soil evenly moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top 2–3 cm to dry before watering again. Appreciates the higher humidity typical of European bathrooms or kitchens, but adapts well to regular room conditions.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Plant in a well-draining aroid mix containing coco coir, perlite, and bark. The moss pole supports climbing and encourages larger, more fenestrated leaves as it matures.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Warning: Monstera adansonii is toxic if ingested. Keep safely out of reach of pets and children.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
This vigorous climber grows quickly under the right conditions. Train it to climb higher poles or trellises. Propagation is easy via stem cuttings rooted in water or soil.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
During spring and summer, feed monthly with a balanced liquid fertilizer. In winter, reduce watering and feeding as growth slows. Mist the moss pole occasionally to keep aerial roots happy.
🐛 Common Issues
- Yellowing leaves: often from overwatering
- Crispy edges: caused by low humidity or underwatering
- Stretched growth: indicates insufficient light
🧬 Botanical Background
Native to Central and South America, Monstera adansonii climbs through the rainforest understory with its iconic "Swiss cheese" foliage. Known affectionately as the "Monkey Leaf" in Europe, it’s a favorite among plant lovers for its quirky leaf design and fast-growing habit.
