Summary: With luminous lime-gold foliage and a compact, bushy shape, ‘Rich Goldstar’ is a rare gem that instantly lifts any room. A true mood-booster for plant lovers across Europe.
✨ Why You'll Love the 'Rich Goldstar'
- Bright yellow-green leaves with delicate veining—striking and unusual
- Compact growth habit, ideal for shelves, windowsills, or tabletop pots
- Fast grower with dense, full foliage
- Adds year-round colour to your urban jungle
- Height: ~20 cm | Pot size: 13 cm
🌞 Light & Placement
Thrives in bright, indirect light and can handle some gentle morning sun. Avoid deep shade—low light will fade the vibrant colour. Great for east or south-facing windows in German apartments.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep the soil lightly moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm feels dry. Loves moderate humidity—consider misting during dry indoor heating seasons.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a rich, well-draining potting mix. A mix for tropical foliage plants works well. Repot once a year in spring to keep roots happy.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not pet-safe. Keep away from pets, as ingestion may cause mild toxicity.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Grows quickly in warm, bright conditions. Easily propagated from stem cuttings in water or soil—perfect for sharing with plant friends.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Pinch back tips regularly to encourage bushy growth. In colder months, reduce watering slightly and keep away from cold drafts or windowsills.
🐛 Common Issues
May attract aphids or whiteflies in dry, indoor air—keep an eye on leaf undersides. Faded leaves indicate insufficient light; legginess suggests it needs a trim and more sun.
🧬 Botanical Background
Part of the Amaranth family, Iresine diffusa f. herbstii ‘Rich Goldstar’ is native to tropical South America. Known as “Bloodleaf” in its red forms, this golden cultivar is prized for its sunny color and cheerful personality in European indoor plant collections.
