Blue Waves Cotyledon
Description:
Cotyledon ‘Blue Waves’ is a stunning, sculptural succulent prized for its fleshy, powdery blue-grey leaves edged with undulating pink to rose margins. This South African native cultivar brings architectural flair to waterwise gardens and containers, with its chunky, scalloped foliage forming a tight rosette that slowly develops into a shrubby mound. During the warmer months, it produces upright stalks of nodding, bell-shaped orange-red flowers that attract bees and nectar-loving insects. It thrives in full sun and well-drained, sandy soils, and is exceptionally drought-tolerant once established—making it ideal for Melbourne gardeners seeking low-maintenance, low-water solutions. ‘Blue Waves’ performs equally well in the ground or in pots, where its colour intensifies with exposure to sun and cool night temperatures. Protect from heavy frost and avoid overwatering to prevent rot.
