We could stare at the leaves of the Dieffenbachia ‘Green Magic’ all day, no joke. The lush deep green contrasted with the cream white stripe along the center is breathtaking. Nicknamed Dumbcane for the numbness and loss of speech that occurs when ingested, this houseplant is not only gorgeous but functional as well. It may be toxic when ingested, however it is also an air purifier, able to remove toxins from the surrounding environment. Little yin, little yang.
This evergreen aroid is an average grower and is able to reach about 2 m in height. Repotting can be done every two years or so or when the roots start to peek out through the drainage holes of the nursery pot. Rotating the pot every once in a while will help ensure an even maturing of the plant as Dieffenbachia likes to lean towards the light.
Like Monsteras, Philodendrons, and Anthuriums, Dieffenbachias are also aroids and prefer high humidity and bright indirect light. They enjoy a well drained soil that is approaching drying out before its next watering. That means the top layer of soil (about two knuckles deep) will be completely dry when it’s time for the next drink. This is a very easy plant to care for but a beautiful addition for any plant lover.

Watering

Water her regularly, but allow the top two-three inches of soil to dry out before giving her a shower. To check if she's thirsty, just stick your finger in the top of her compost; if it comes out dry, then it's time to give her a drink. The goal is to keep your Dumb Cane slightly moist but not soggy wet. Also, don't allow it to dry out completely.

Lights

Dieffenbachia is happiest in medium light, as too much bright light will scorch her leaves. Try putting her near an east- or west-facing window.

Pug At The Beach loves Jack Canfield
Format: Paperback
Far too many people wander through life unfulfilled because they lack the skill set needed to experience life to its most bountiful. That's in part due to a fear of asking for that which brings us what we need, want or desire. People are afraid. Afraid of rejection, afraid of looking foolish, and a whole host of other things. Be afraid no longer. The Aladdin Factor will teach you how to ask without fear. Canfield's book taught me how to ask in a powerful, confident way that would guarantee my success. Simple phrasing combined with subtle reflection made for a life transforming read. At Pug Headquarters, it's a must read. Good not great
Format: Paperback
Good advice on asking, could be a bit more content on how to actually ask. Most examples seemed to be more made up than practical. Still good book.

Ask and Ye Shall Receive...
Format: Paperback
The writing and the approach in the book are not earth shattering. In fact, I wish there was a little more meat or pizzaz in the content. So, why the recommendation? Simple - the content at its core is incredibly powerful - and we all need the reminder. Our gentieel approach to communications and emotional interaction has left us forgetting to ASK for things. We expect the world to be mind readers, and get upset, frustrated or depressed when we don't get what we want. Of course, since we never actually ASKED for what we wanted, we rely on guesswork and luck to achieve our dreams and goals. The genie in the lamp could grant wishes, but those wishes needed to be spoken by Aladdin. Similarly, we are all in a position to achieve our goals and dreams, but they must be spoken. Even within ourselves, we cannot harness our own power of desire and subconscious until we solidify the desire by asking for it. An absolute must read - even if the writing style is a bit flat - the content is NOT.

Great book, however...
Format: Paperback
There are many great things about this book and very useful advice and information, however it is very repetitive and some of the excerpts are a bit long and boring. I still recommend it, just be warned.
