Oregon Sugar Pod Pea is a standout snow pea variety, celebrated for its tender, sweet pods and early, abundant harvests. This highly productive plant thrives in full sun and well-draining soil, reaching maturity in just 60-65 days, making it one of the earliest crops to enjoy in the growing season. The vines grow to about 3 feet tall and are best supported with trellises or stakes to ensure easy harvesting. Oregon Sugar Pod produces flat, crisp pods that are ideal for fresh eating, stir-fries, salads, and steaming. The pods are stringless, making preparation quick and easy, while their refreshing sweetness adds a burst of flavor to any dish. This variety is also resistant to common pea diseases, such as powdery mildew and pea enation virus, ensuring vigorous, healthy growth throughout the season. Its cold-hardiness makes it an excellent choice for early spring or fall planting, allowing for multiple harvest opportunities. With regular picking, the plants will continue to produce pods over an extended period, providing a consistent supply of fresh, nutritious peas. Oregon Sugar Pod Pea’s exceptional flavor, ease of cultivation, and reliable yields make it a favorite for home gardeners and chefs alike.
