This variety is a prime example of an Angel Wing Begonia, characterized by its upright growth habit and thick, jointed stems that resemble bamboo. The foliage is striking, featuring distinctive wing-shaped leaves.
Begonia 'Corallina' is a cultivated hybrid (Cane Begonia), but its lineage traces back to the tropical and subtropical regions of Central and South America. Cane Begonias are popular worldwide for their robust nature and beautiful continuous bloom cycle.
The 'Corallina' is prized for its abundant, cascading clusters of flowers that typically bloom in vibrant coral or deep pink shades - a perfect match for its name. These beautiful flowers hang from the stems, adding a dramatic, colorful accent against the green foliage, and they can appear year-round under ideal conditions.
-
Place near an East or West-facing window. Avoid prolonged, direct afternoon sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water when the top inch or two of soil is dry to the touch. Do not let the plant sit in soggy soil, as this can cause root rot.
Use a light, peat-based potting mix amended with perlite or coarse sand to ensure excellent drainage.
As a Cane Begonia, it grows vertically and can become quite tall, requiring occasional pruning or staking.

10-11 (Grown outdoors only in very warm climates; otherwise, it thrives as an indoor houseplant).
