Echeveria 'Dudu' is a particularly charming and aesthetically pleasing succulent variety, known for its dense leaves and unique coloring. Its fleshy, often wavy leaves have shades of pale green, accented with pink or red at the edges, especially when exposed to direct light.
Origin: Although specific details of its origin are poorly documented, like most Echeveria, 'Dudu' probably originated in Mexico, adapted to arid climates.
Growth: This variety develops a compact rosette which can reach approximately 15 cm in diameter when mature. Its leaves are thick, which helps the plant retain water in dry environments.
Flowers: Echeveria 'Dudu' produces inflorescences on stems which may rise above the rosette, bearing bell-shaped flowers, usually pink or reddish in color, appearing mainly in spring or early summer.
Light: This plant requires bright light to maintain the vibrancy of its colors and avoid fading. It can tolerate full sun, but it is best to protect it from direct afternoon sun in very hot climates to avoid scalding.
Watering: Watering should be moderate during the growing season, allowing the substrate to dry out completely between waterings. Decrease watering in winter to match plant dormancy.
Substrate: A well-draining mix is crucial, typically a cactus and succulent substrate that includes perlite and pumice to promote good drainage and prevent root rot.
Toxicity: Generally, Echeveria are considered non-toxic to humans and pets, making 'Dudu' suitable for inhabited spaces.
