Oxalis 'Charmed Wine' is an attractive houseplant, prized for its deep purple, clover-shaped foliage and delicate white flowers. Its compact habit and easy care make it an excellent choice for adding a splash of color to any indoor space.
Origin: This variety comes from the genus Oxalis, which includes species native to various regions of the world, including South America and Africa.
Growth: Oxalis 'Charmed Wine' has a moderate growth habit, typically reaching a height of 15-30 cm and a width of 25-30 cm. Its trifoliate, intense purple leaves fold at night or in response to tactile stimuli.
Flowers: This plant produces small, white, bell-shaped flowers, which contrast beautifully with the dark foliage. Flowering can occur throughout the growing season, adding extra appeal to the plant.
Light: Prefers moderate to bright indirect light. Exposure to too little light can cause etiolation, while intense direct light can burn leaves.
Watering: Requires moderate watering. Allow the substrate to dry slightly on the surface between waterings to prevent root rot. Reduce watering during dormant periods, usually in winter.
Substrate: Use a well-draining potting soil. A mixture of houseplant potting soil with perlite or sand is ideal for ensuring good drainage.
Toxicity: Oxalis 'Charmed Wine' is toxic to dogs and cats if ingested, due to the presence of oxalic acid. It is recommended to keep it out of reach of pets and children.
