The Aloe castilloniae hybrid blue has thick, fleshy blue-green leaves that grow in a rosette shape. The leaves are usually arranged in a spiral pattern, giving the plant a visually appealing look.
They have a textured or tuberculated surface, which means they have small raised bumps on both sides of the leaves.
The tubercules or bumps on the leaves not only make it visually appealing but also provide a tactile experience when you touch them.
This Aloe variety can grow up to 18 inches tall and wide. It's a relatively compact plant, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor spaces.
When it comes to flowering, the Aloe castilloniae hybrid blue produces vibrant shades of indigo flowers.
These flowers typically appear in late spring or early summer, adding a vibrant touch to the plant. They are held on tall, slender stalks that rise above the foliage.
In terms of care, this Aloe blue variety is relatively low maintenance. It thrives in well-draining soil, opens in a new tab and prefers bright sunlight for at least 4-6 hours a day. It's important to avoid overwatering, as Aloe plants are susceptible to root rot. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings, and water sparingly during the winter months.
Aloe castilloniae blue thrives best in indoor temperatures between 65-75°F and is well-suited to outdoor USDA zones 9-11. It is important to protect this plant from frost and extreme temperatures to ensure its optimal growth.
Propagation of the Aloe castilloniae hybrid blue can be done through offsets or pups that grow from the base of the plant. These can be carefully separated and planted in their own pots or in the garden. You can also propagate this Aloe variety through leaf cuttings.
