Lavandula angustifolia ‘Melissa’ is an English lavender with gray-green foliage and soft violet-blue flowers held on dark, sturdy, mid-length stems. The color reads clearly in the field and in the garden, and it keeps its tone well when dried. Plants grow into neat, upright evergreen shrubs that look good even when not in bloom.
This is a variety we like for both looks and usefulness. The stems are strong enough for cutting, the color dries nicely, and the fragrance is gentle and sweet—good for both bouquets and light culinary use.
It’s a solid choice if you want something a little different in color, without giving up the classic English lavender form and scent.
