‘Spider Plant on a Patterned Cloth’ is a bold and uplifting still life by acclaimed Cornish artist Joanne Short. A lush spider plant, with its graceful, arching foliage, bursts from a terracotta-toned striped pot, radiating vibrant green against a dynamic backdrop of turquoise and teal vertical stripes.
The surface below is alive with design — a golden yellow cloth adorned with geometric motifs in rich jewel tones. The composition dances with colour and pattern, creating a joyful tension between the natural forms of the plant and the highly stylised setting.
This vibrant and highly collectable original has a striking presence — a perfect statement piece for modern interiors and an ideal work for a home gallery wall. Joanne Short’s distinctive use of line, colour and balance continues the legacy of decorative Cornish modernism, adding a fresh and contemporary voice to a rich artistic tradition.
