Chives seeds for the kitchen herb garden, the windowsill, or the general project of improving things. Chive seeds. From the company called Chive. It took 25 years to arrive at this, but here we are, and the seeds are excellent.

Chives is from the company that has been named Chive for 25 years and only recently got around to selling them. Each packet is hermetically vacuum-sealed -- removing the oxygen that causes standard paper seed packets to lose germination viability within approximately one year. State law requires a 3-year viability label on sealed packaging. NASA research on hermetic seed storage indicates viability of up to 10 years under proper conditions. Every packet is non-GMO and germination-tested at independent third-party labs before it earns its Japanese woodblock print artwork.

How to Grow Chives from Seed

Sowing and Germination

Sow 6mm deep, 15cm apart. Germination 10-14 days at 18-24C.

Care and Harvest

Perennial. Harvest regularly to encourage new growth. Both leaves and flowers edible.

Why Vacuum-Sealed Seeds Last Longer

Standard paper seed packets are permeable to oxygen and moisture -- the two primary causes of seed degradation. Most paper-packaged seeds begin losing germination viability after approximately one year, contributing to significant garden-industry waste: packets purchased, not planted, expired, discarded. Shido Seeds are hermetically vacuum-sealed. The packet does not expire quietly in a drawer. It waits.

About the Packaging

Every Shido seed packet is illustrated in the style of Japanese 1910s woodblock printing -- designed and drawn in-house by Chive, the Toronto ceramics studio that has been exhibiting at the Chelsea Flower Show in London every year and does not, as a matter of principle, sell to big-box retailers. Customers collect the packets as a series. This was not the original plan.

One cable does it all, rock solid Ethernet and great 4K output
This hub has simplified my desk setup considerably. I plug it into my MacBook and instantly have Ethernet, 4K HDMI, two USB-A ports, and 100W charging all from one connection. The Ethernet is Gigabit and the speeds are as fast as plugging directly into the router. The 4K HDMI output to my monitor is clean with no flickering. It runs slightly warm during extended use but nothing alarming. Build quality feels solid and UGREEN has been consistently reliable in my experience. Worth every penny if you need to expand a USB-C only laptop.

Nothing Special
Works as intended. I bought it mostly for the Ethernet adapter which was plug and play with the latest installation of Fedora Linux and uses an AX88179 Gigabit Ethernet chipset. The Ethernet portion does not have activity lights. A bit of a lazy omission. Port locations are smartly placed with the HDMI output and power input at the back facing one direction, and the Type A USB peripheral ports facing the other. This is great for cable routing. The single Type C port is only for power delivery. It will not work for data to connect other peripherals.

UGREEN
Very useful and compact USB-C hub. It easily expands connectivity with HDMI, USB ports, and fast charging support. The 4K HDMI output works well for presentations and streaming, and the 100W power delivery keeps devices charged without issues. Build quality feels solid, and it’s perfect for travel or daily use. Great value for the price.

Compact and useful.
It's small and light enough to fit in my bag easily. My computer uses a USB-c charger, and there's only one port, but I was able to use it for ethernet, and pass the charging through the same port. I've had issues with my computer not recognizing charging from some sources before, so this was great.
