Begonia Black Magic is one of the most dramatic and darkly beautiful plants in the Begonia world. Its large, angel-wing shaped leaves are a deep, near-black green with a raised, slightly textured surface that catches light in unexpected ways, and vivid jewel-like red undersides that flash color with every movement. It is a bold, striking plant that earns its place in any collection immediately.
Good for beginners? It requires moderate care. Consistent moisture, good indirect light, and some humidity keep it looking its best. It is more forgiving than its dramatic appearance suggests and grows vigorously with the right conditions.
Safe for cats and dogs? Begonia is toxic to pets if ingested, particularly the roots. Keep out of reach of cats and dogs.
Light needs: Bright indirect light brings out the deepest, most dramatic leaf color and encourages the best growth. It tolerates medium light but growth slows. Avoid direct sun which can scorch the dark, textured leaves.
Care at a glance: Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Good drainage is essential. Feed monthly in spring and summer. Pinch back tips to encourage fuller, bushier growth rather than a single leggy stem.
Ships fresh from one of our two greenhouse locations in a nursery pot. Covered by our 30-Day Plant Guarantee — if it arrives damaged, we replace it. Free shipping on orders $149+.
