🌞 Light & Placement
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its golden hue. Too little light will cause leaves to darken, while too much sun may scorch them. Place near a filtered east- or west-facing window for best colour retention in European interiors.
💧 Water & Humidity
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feel dry. Keep soil evenly moist but avoid waterlogging. Enjoys moderate humidity (50–70%) and benefits from occasional misting, especially in heated winter rooms.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a chunky, airy aroid mix — combining orchid bark, perlite, and coco coir for ideal drainage. As a P3 plug plant, pot it into a small nursery pot upon arrival and increase size as roots establish. Try our aroid substrate for optimal results.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Like most Philodendrons, ‘Golden Violin’ is toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Moderate to fast grower once established. Leaves elongate and develop their distinctive “violin” shape as the plant matures. Propagate by stem cuttings with a node during warm months — roots easily in water or moist sphagnum moss.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer. In winter, water sparingly and maintain warm indoor temperatures (above 18 °C). Provide a moss pole or support for climbing growth as it matures.
🐛 Common Issues
- Yellow leaves → overwatering or low light
- Pale colour → insufficient light
- Watch for mealybugs or spider mites on undersides of leaves
