Aglaonema 'Cutlass' Medium (Aglaonema commutatum 'Cutlass') – Sleek, Sword-Like Leaves for a Modern Jungle Look
Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Pet-safe
Summary: With its long, narrow leaves streaked in soft silver and green, the Aglaonema ‘Cutlass’ is a stylish, low-maintenance statement plant for any modern European interior.
✨ Why You'll Love It
- Unique lance-shaped foliage with silver variegation and dark green edges
- Thrives in low to medium light—perfect for city flats and shaded corners
- Compact, clumping growth habit ideal for shelves, desks, and side tables
- Exceptionally resilient and beginner-friendly
🌞 Light & Placement
Best in low to medium indirect light. Too much sun can fade the delicate variegation. Ideal for office spaces, bathrooms, or shaded windowsills in German apartments.
💧 Water & Humidity
Water when the top 3–4 cm of soil are dry. Avoid soggy soil. Tolerates average humidity but appreciates the occasional mist in drier seasons.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a breathable, well-draining potting mix—an aroid blend or peat-based soil with added perlite works well. Always pot in a container with drainage holes.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Note: Like most Aglaonemas, ‘Cutlass’ is mildly toxic if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Slow to moderate grower. Propagates easily through division during repotting—great for sharing or expanding your jungle!
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
Minimal seasonal care. During winter, reduce watering and keep away from cold drafts or heaters.
🐛 Common Issues
- Leaf tip browning: Usually from inconsistent watering or low humidity.
- Fading color: Often caused by too much direct sunlight.
🧬 Botanical Background
Part of the Araceae family, Aglaonema 'Cutlass' originates from Southeast Asia and is beloved for its modern, architectural look and extreme adaptability to European indoor conditions.
