Thai Basil is a striking and flavorful herb that adds an exotic touch to your garden and kitchen. The vibrant green leaves are tinged with purple and exude a bold, spicy aroma with hints of anise and licorice. Thriving in full sun and well-draining soil, Thai Basil is a fast-growing annual that matures in about 60-70 days. The compact plants reach up to 12-18 inches tall, producing clusters of tender leaves that are perfect for enhancing stir-fries, curries, soups, and salads. In addition to its culinary uses, Thai Basil is also an ornamental plant, with deep purple stems and blossoms that attract pollinators like bees and butterflies. Regular harvesting of the leaves encourages fresh growth and extends the harvest season. Thai Basil is a versatile and low-maintenance herb that thrives in garden beds, containers, or windowsills. Whether you’re a fan of Southeast Asian cuisine or simply looking for a flavorful herb with decorative appeal, Thai Basil is a must-have for its unique taste and beauty.

Soil and Water: Plant in full sun in well-draining soil. Basil does not require fertile soil, however it performs best when organic matter is added. Provide even water throughout development.
Planting and Growing: Start seeds indoors 4-6 weeks before the last frost, or sow directly once soil temperatures have reached at least 70°F. Pinch ends during development for a bushy plant. Sow heavily and thin to the most vigorous seedlings. Basil will not perform below 50°F; pot indoors during winter for a year-round supply.
Harvesting and Storage: Regular harvesting will keep production high. Use leaves fresh or frozen. Remove flower stalks to extend harvest. Be sure to harvest prior to first frost.
