Stephanotis floribunda, commonly known as Madagascar jasmine or wax flower, is an elegant and fragrant climbing vine native to Madagascar. This evergreen plant is characterized by its glossy, leathery leaves and exquisite, waxy, white, star-shaped flowers. These blossoms are renowned for their sweet and enchanting fragrance, making Stephanotis floribunda a popular choice for ornamental and perfumery purposes. The vine's twining habit allows it to gracefully climb trellises or arbors, making it a delightful addition to gardens and indoor spaces. Stephanotis floribunda thrives in bright, indirect light and well-draining soil, and it requires consistent moisture and a warm, tropical to subtropical climate to flourish. With its captivating flowers and intoxicating scent, this plant is a symbol of beauty and elegance, often used in bridal bouquets and corsages for special occasions. Zones 10-11
Germination
Plant the stephanotis seeds in a small flower pot by pressing them just under the surface of the potting soil. Place a very thin layer of horticulture sand on top. The sand will keep the seeds buried when watering. Place the flower pot in a sunny area in your home. Water them enough to keep the soil damp at all times while the seed is germinating. It will take between 2 weeks to 2 month before you will see a seedling. Do not let the temperature get below 55 degrees F, and make sure it has at least 6 hours of sun. Transplant the seedlings into larger pots of their own. They can then be moved outside, as long as the climate is warm.
