Philodendron Megalophyllum in Self-Watering Planter
Philodendron Megalophyllum (formerly known as Philodendron deflexum) is a rare tropical climber admired for its large, elongated, deeply lobed foliage and bold, exotic appearance.
This plant comes in a self-watering planter, ensuring consistent moisture and reducing the risk of overwatering or underwatering—ideal for both beginners and busy plant owners.
Native to Peru, this fast-growing epiphytic plant develops long, elegant leaves with a distinctive shape, making it a perfect choice for creating a lush, tropical statement indoors as it matures.
Environment
Light: Thrives in medium to bright indirect light. Can tolerate low light but may become leggy. Avoid direct harsh sunlight.
Water: The self-watering pot helps maintain consistent moisture. Refill the reservoir as needed and avoid waterlogging.
Humidity: Prefers humid, tropical conditions. Mist regularly or use a pebble tray for best growth.
Temperature: Prefers warm temperatures and does not tolerate cold conditions.
Soil: Rich, loose, well-draining soil with good organic content. Avoid alkaline soil.
Fertilizer: Feed with slow-release fertilizer or a balanced liquid fertilizer (20-20-20) during the growing season. Reduce feeding in winter.
Placement
Ideal for bright indoor spaces, balconies, or shaded areas. Its large, dramatic foliage makes it perfect for filling empty corners or adding a bold tropical touch to interiors.
Also helps improve indoor air quality by removing toxins such as formaldehyde, benzene, and ammonia.
Caution
Parts of the plant are toxic if ingested. Keep away from pets and children, as philodendrons are harmful to dogs and cats.
