Summary: With its velvety elongated leaves and rich green hues, Philodendron Eximum brings understated tropical sophistication to any European apartment or office nook.
✨ Why You'll Love It
- Elegant, elongated foliage with a subtle matte sheen
- Perfect medium size (H25cm, P12cm) for shelves, plant stands, or grouped displays
- Low maintenance – thrives with minimal fuss
- Boosts indoor air quality while creating calming jungle vibes
- Rarely seen in local garden centres – a true collector’s Philodendron
🌞 Light & Placement
Place in bright, indirect light for optimal growth. Tolerates medium light but avoid harsh direct sun, which can scorch its beautiful leaves. Ideal for east- or north-facing windows in German apartments or European homes.
💧 Water & Humidity
Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feel dry. Loves moderate humidity (50–70%), so mist occasionally or place near a humidifier for best foliage health.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining aroid mix with chunky perlite, orchid bark, and peat or coco coir. Repot every 1–2 years to refresh nutrients and encourage steady growth.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not pet-safe. Like most Philodendrons, Eximum contains calcium oxalate crystals and should be kept away from curious cats and dogs.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Philodendron Eximum grows upright with elegant arching leaves. Propagate via stem cuttings placed in water or sphagnum moss until roots develop, then pot into fresh aroid mix.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
During winter, reduce watering frequency as growth slows. Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them dust-free and maximise photosynthesis indoors.
🐛 Common Issues
- Yellowing leaves: overwatering or poor drainage
- Curling leaves: low humidity or underwatering
- Leggy growth: insufficient light – move closer to a bright window
🧬 Botanical Background
Philodendron eximum is part of the Araceae family, native to tropical South American rainforests. Its understated yet sophisticated foliage makes it a coveted choice among serious Philodendron collectors and interior stylists alike.
