Licuala ramsayi - Australian Fan Palm

Licuala ramsayi, commonly known as the Australian Fan Palm, is a striking tropical palm native to northern Australia, admired for its large, circular, pleated fronds that resemble delicate fans. Its bold, umbrella-like leaves bring a unique and architectural look to tropical gardens, creating a lush, green canopy. Growing to a height of 3–6 meters, the Australian Fan Palm is ideal for adding a dramatic focal point in tropical landscapes or as a statement specimen in sheltered garden areas.

Position

The Australian Fan Palm thrives in partial to full shade, performing best in filtered sunlight or bright, indirect light. It prefers well-drained, moist soil with high organic content and is well-suited to warm, humid climates. Sensitive to frost, Licuala ramsayi is ideal for tropical and subtropical gardens or protected conservatory environments in cooler regions.

Growth

This slow to moderate-growing palm reaches a mature height of 3–6 meters with a spread of about 2–3 meters, forming a solitary, upright trunk with a dense crown of fan-shaped leaves. Its large, circular fronds and tall, slender form make it an excellent choice for creating height, texture, and a tropical ambiance in garden landscapes.

Planting Guide

Licuala ramsayi grows best in well-drained, nutrient-rich soil with added organic matter. Plant in spring, spacing plants about 2–3 meters apart to allow for full growth. For container planting, use a high-quality tropical potting mix, and place the container in a semi-shaded area. Water thoroughly after planting, and apply a layer of mulch around the base to retain moisture and control weeds.

Plant Care

Water regularly to keep the soil consistently moist but avoid waterlogging, as the Australian Fan Palm thrives in a humid environment. Feed with a balanced, slow-release fertiliser formulated for palms during the growing season to support lush foliage growth. Protect from frost and cold drafts, and if grown indoors, maintain high humidity by misting or using a humidifier. Prune only to remove brown or damaged fronds, allowing the palm to retain its natural, elegant shape.

Always fits and is easy to install
Size: 9.5" x 10.9" x 2.1"
We've bought these for years and they always fit and are easy to install. Easy to see when they are dirty and need to throw away. Embarrassed that we let the car dealership do it for so long. We set on six-month subscribe and save so that we know when to replace it - change it whenever it shows up!

Two Filters, Quick and Easy
Size: 16-23 Tacoma, Size: 16-23 Tacoma
The RVgolf Engine+Cabin Air Filters Kit for the Toyota Tacoma V6 comes with two air filters. There is a cabin air filter that fits nicely into the compartment accessed through the glove box and an engine air filter that dropped in easily in the compartment under the hood. Replacement of both filters was easy, didn’t require any tools, and it took more time to empty and replace the items in the glove box than it did to replace both filters. The Toyota dealership quoted me $80 to replace the cabin air filter only. I replaced both filters for less than $30. The filters felt like they were good quality. The engine air filter is multi-layered, with a thin foam layer to keep larger debris from blocking the finer paper filter. The cabin air filter said and looked like it had a carbon layer to absorb smells. The only concern I had was size. After I had replaced both filters I went to slide the engine air filter I replaced into the RVgolf box to throw it away. The engine air filter I replaced would not slide into the RVgolf box. It was too big. After driving for a few days and a couple of hundred miles, I popped the hood and checked the fit of the engine air filter. The fit looked perfect. See attached photos.
