Thick Bee Lawn is perfect for thickening up a thin lawn or starting from scratch over bare soil! Thick Bee Lawn is a blend of low growing wildflowers and low maintenance fine fescue grasses.

Contents: Flowering Lawn Thick Bee Mix Seeds (Dutch White Clover, Self-Heal, and Fine Fescue Grasses) + Soil Builders + Compost Booster in an Easy to Spread Shaker.

Dutch White Clover Trifolium repens:
  • Produces white round blooms from late spring into fall 2.5-4" unless allowed to grow taller if not mowed.
  • Vital nectar source for pollinators including the monarch butterfly.
  • Grows better in shade than grass and tolerates foot traffic and pets better than grass making it a great option for families with kids and pets.
  • Has above ground roots (runners/stolons) that will choke out weeds like dandelions over time as it fills in. Apply at higher rates for quicker effect.
  • Fixes atmospheric nitrogen into the ground, reducing the need for fertilizer once established.

Self-Heal Prunella vulgaris:

  • Produces many light purple blooms in early to mid-summer about 2-6" tall.
  • Beneficial nectar source for a variety of pollinators.
  • Grows well in part shade to full sun in sand, clay, or loam soils.

Our Mow Less grass seed mix is a blend of fine fescues which have better shade tolerance than bluegrass and require much less fertilizer and mowing. We recommend mowing regularly for the first season after planting to allow all varieties to mature. It is recommend to mow at your highest setting a few times each year to allow light and air to the soil surface to prevent rot and decay as well as one variety from overtaking the others.

Here at Flowering Lawn, we are on a mission to improve the quality of life and the environment, starting with lawns! By making the easy switch to Flawn Seed, you will experience many benefits like reduced mowing, fertilizing & watering - saving you time and money. Flowering lawns support beneficial pollinating insects. Flowering lawns also capture and store more carbon making your property greener. Our Flowering Lawn Kit seeds are easy to establish and can be seeded during any season! If you seed your lawn in late fall or winter, wait until the ground is frozen or sprinkle over fresh snow. If seeding in spring, wait until the ground thaws and soil temperatures are around 55 degrees. Avoid seeding before hot and dry periods to keep soil from completely drying out during germination.

Caring for a Flowering Lawn - Continue to mow your lawn regularly for the first season to keep the grass from overtaking the seedlings. Regular mowing at 2-4” is necessary to maintain smaller leaves. This will result in fewer flower blooms. Without regular mowing, the clovers will produce larger leaves and produce more flower blooms. Watering through hot and dry periods may also be necessary. Packaging is recyclable.

How to seed your Flawn:

Seed in spring, late summer to early fall. Spread over existing grass after mowing to .5" and raking to loosen soil (full instructions on package). Water lightly but frequently after seeding so soil and seedlings don't dry out. Continue to mow for one year at 2-3" until flowers are fully established.

Maintaining a Flawn:

- Mow at 2-3" for the first year. Once all varieties are established, it is up to you how you keep your Flawn. Mowing higher and less often will promote more flowers and have a more wild look. Mowing shorter and more often will have a more traditional lawn look with little to no flowers.

- Do not use pesticide weed or insect killers. Hand weed if necessary or desired.

- White clover fixes atmospheric nitrogen into the ground, so fertilizer needs are minimal, if at all, once established. Applying an organic starter fertilizer is recommended, especially if seeding grass seed in addition to the Flawn Seed Kit.

- If you are seeding a new lawn or renovating a bare soil area, we recommend increasing the seeding rate by 2-5x.

Best Toy EVER!
Size: Jumbo, Style: Peanut Butter
I was a bit skeptical. We have had NO joy in finding toys for "aggressive" chewers that actually last more than a day for our 1 year old Staffordshire/Pittie mix. He has jaws of iron! (or so it seems) Nothing holds up. He is literally eating them, and subsequently gets them taken away, within 24 to 48 h ours. IF that long. He finds it a challenge to get to the center of whatever toy he has, whether it is supposed to have a center or not! We bought this in April of last year!! Yes, the squeaker is no longer squeaking (a blessing in disguise) but the ball itself is still intact, with no nicks, dings, pieces missing, etc. It still bounces well, and he still loves it. 1 year later, still going strong! I didn't realize it had been that long, until today. So I had to write a review, and buy a couple more Playology Jumbo toys. I hope they hold up 1 tenth as well!

Hit or miss
Size: Medium, Style: Beef, Size: Medium, Style: Beef
I’ve purchased this item multiple times. Twice now, I got duds. Within minutes of opening the package, the ball was destroyed. The other times, it lasted months! I don’t know how to explain it.

Still squeaking after all these days!
Size: Jumbo, Style: Beef
My power chewer GSPs usually wreck all "tough" toys in less than an hour, especially if they squeak. These seem pricey but I can say it's held up really well. After about three weeks, it's still hanging in there! The stripes are worn off but the squeaker still squeaks and that's what it's all about.

Long lasting scent and has not been destroyed by my heavy chewer.
Size: Jumbo, Style: Bacon
My medium puppy loves this ball. She already has the smaller size but appears to enjoy the challenge of catching the large one. An added benefit is it's easier for me to win it back when we fight (play fighting) for it. The scent really lasts. I've had the smaller version for a few months and the scent is still there. Does it really smell like bacon? Not to my nose but the puppy thinks it's awesome. The ball itself is really tough. The pup can destroy a tennis ball in a day. Except for a few teeth marks these balls are holding together great.

Worth every penny—my beagle is obsessed
Size: Medium, Style: Cheddar Cheese, Size: Medium, Style: Cheddar Cheese
No dog toy is indestructible if you have a hound or a pit. I happen to have a combination of both. This toy is the best $12 you could possibly spend for a dog that likes to “kill” their toys. The only reason I’m buying more is because I keep losing them. My dog is a rescue. She’s half beagle, a quarter boxer, and a quarter pit bull. She’s a tiny fire-cracker and I lover her to pieces. And she loves tennis balls to pieces. Literally. She adores tennis balls, squeaky toys, and food. She will absolutely try to surgically extract the squeaker from any toy she gets because she has a high prey-drive. These balls last usually at least a week before she manages to dislodge the squeaker or puncture the squeaking mechanism, but I still have one I got about six months ago that has the paint worn off and it still squeaks. This ball literally has everything. It squeaks, it bounces pretty high, it looks like a real tennis ball so my girl recognizes them as “toy” immediately, and they smell good. These balls in particular last forever. I got her a can of regular tennis balls and she had them in four pieces within 10 minutes or less, which is not healthy for her because she likes to eat the pieces. For this dog toy, I have never seen her crack it. She’s pushed the squeaker inside of exactly one of them so far, and it stayed inside the ball. Much safer than a toy that she can possibly ingest. The toys come in several colors, but it’s not just to make them look cute and colorful. The colors correspond to flavors, as each of the balls has a different scent. I’ve sniffed them and noticed there’s a mild food smell beneath the rubber scent. I can tell that dogs really do get a kick out of the “flavors.” I’ve taken these to the dog park and all the dogs want the Playology tennis ball, even if we have other generic balls flying around. My dog even has favorites. We have a muscle-head pit bull/staffy mix at the park who is a giant meat-ball. He got his hands on one of these and he wasn’t even able to break it open for at least 20 minutes of deliberate chewing. My girl’s favorite “flavor” for a long time was beef (the red one). The blue “peanut butter” flavor is the easiest one to find in stores. She was obsessed with a purple one for a while, apparently it was bacon flavor. I couldn’t find that one! I saw that Amazon has an orange “cheese” flavor and knew she’d love it. She’s obsessed. I really wanted to leave this review to convince people to invest in this product. Your dog will be so happy, and this company made something great. I’m worried because I went on their website yesterday and they had only one or two colors available. I don’t want them to stop making this amazing toy. I hope they don’t lose business because their product is TOO durable!! If they make more flavors, or maybe make some multi-dog (tug ropes?) or similar, I’ll definitely continue to be a customer. Please keep making these awesome tennis balls!
