Rosea is a classic pink English lavender with a soft, understated presence in the garden. It produces light pink flowers held above bright green calyces, giving the plant a fresh, clean look rather than a bold splash of color. Rosea is essentially the same cultivar often sold as ‘Jean Davis,’ so gardeners may recognize it under either name.
Compared to deeper pink varieties such as ‘Hidcote Pink,’ Rosea grows slightly taller and displays a much paler flower color. The overall effect is gentle and refined, making it especially well suited to cottage gardens, mixed borders, and plantings where subtle color is preferred.
Rosea is also well regarded for culinary use. The flavor is mild and floral without bitterness or heaviness, making it easy to use in both sweet and savory applications.
