Short Hayden Tapered Round Fiberglass Planter Box

Sculptural Inverted Taper. Low-Profile Architectural Elegance. Commercial-Grade Performance. Gracefully punctuate tabletops, reception desks, and low ledges with a striking modern silhouette that plays with perspective. The Jay Scotts Short Hayden 12-Inch Diameter x 7-Inch Height Tapered Round Fiberglass Planter Box (SKU: 69117.12) is an expertly proportioned design element meticulously engineered to bring high-end geometric definition to close-up surfaces. Standing an intimate, low-profile 7 inches tall with a broad 12-inch maximum circular diameter, this unique bowl variant turns spatial design on its head with a distinctive inverted taper format. Its sleek, angled walls narrow subtly toward the top opening, contrasting beautifully with the softly rounded edges at its base. Purpose-built for luxury hospitality check-in counters, executive conference rooms, fine dining tables, urban balconies, and minimalist residential mantels, the Short Hayden introduces organic texture and artistic presence without obstructing sightlines. Hand-finished to order in the United States from premium-tier industrial composites, it delivers an exceptional strength-to-weight ratio that easily outclasses heavy, fragile ceramics.

Key Architectural & Performance Features

Striking Inverted Silhouette

The defining visual achievement of the Short Hayden collection is its captivating geometric form. By counterbalancing a stouter, rounded lower foundation with an upwardly narrowing, crisp circular plane, this vessel creates an intriguing play on traditional bowl shapes. It serves as an instant conversation piece, bringing high-end architectural depth and clean artistic movement to minimalist, transitional, or contemporary layouts.

Premium Commercial-Grade Fiberglass Composition

While standard plastic dishes, earthenware, or heavy terracotta pots easily warp, chip, peel, or fracture under root expansion and sudden moisture shifts, Jay Scotts molds the Short Hayden from premium high-density fiberglass. This advanced composite engineering provides exceptional structural durability. The unibody framework remains remarkably lightweight for effortless placement, yet cures into an entirely shatterproof anchor once fully planted.

Hand-Applied Automotive UV Coating System

Every single Short Hayden container is precisely hand-inspected, custom-painted to order with multiple layers of premium commercial automotive liquid marine paint, and expertly hand-cured. This specialized finish system chemically fuses directly with the underlying fiberglass unibody shell, actively repelling intense midday sun fading, seasonal chalking, and blistering across sub-zero winters and coastal salt-spray environments alike.

Tailor-Made Design Palette

Coordinate seamlessly with any property branding guide, corporate workspace theme, or luxury residential palette. Choose from our curated selection of 18 standard hand-finished UV-resistant colors. Opt for sleek contemporary neutrals (Matte Black, White, Charcoal), grounding earth-inspired tones (Mocha, Olive Green, Terracotta), or bold architectural statement shades (Cobalt Blue, Scarlet Red, Mustard Yellow) to fulfill your exact project specifications.

Operational Suitability & Design Placement Guidance

The Short Hayden 12x7" Compact Tapered Round Vessel operates seamlessly as an accent styling asset for high-end interior plantscaping and professional exterior landscaping. It functions beautifully as an elegant tabletop centerpiece, a window ledge element, a reception desk planter, or arranged in rhythmic clustered groupings across outdoor terraces and patio steps.

PLACEMENT AND WEATHER CONFIGURATION NOTE: The Short Hayden planter arrives default from the factory without drainage holes, making it instantly ready for entirely mess-free, watertight indoor deployment over polished executive office desks, lounge tables, or hotel reception counters. For outdoor open plazas, exposed rooftop decks, front steps, or garden pathways, ensure the "Pre-Drilled" drainage hole variation is selected so automated rainwater escapes cleanly, avoiding root rot and preventing freeze-expansion structural hull damage during harsh winter freeze-thaw cycles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Given the low 7-inch height and inverted taper, how stable is the Short Hayden outdoors?

It is exceptionally stable. The Short Hayden 12" features a low-slung, 7-inch structural height paired with a wide 12-inch foundation footprint, which naturally gives it an incredibly low and mathematically balanced center of gravity. Once the interior core cavity is packed with standard landscape potting soils, root networks, or a base layer of drainage aggregates (like river stones), the vessel roots heavily to the ground, easily resisting high outdoor winds and pedestrian bumps on exposed patios, ledges, or outdoor dining tables.

What specific plant families or botanical styles perform best inside this 12-inch model size?

The Short Hayden's low profile and broad circular volume make it a magnificent canvas for texturized, low-profile plantings. It is highly favored by landscape designers for low-maintenance succulent matrices (Aloe Vera, Agave, Echeveria, Sedum), compact flowering annuals (Petunias, Ranunculus), and artistic bonsai or fairy garden layouts. For modern interior spaces, it perfectly houses clusters of structural snake plants, low peace lilies, or cascading pothos configurations that contrast beautifully against the sleek upper rim.

Will the custom finish peel, bubble, or crack if left exposed to harsh freezing winter conditions?

No. Jay Scotts implements an industrial liquid marine automotive coating system that chemically fuses straight into the raw fiberglass composite shell. This premium finish smoothly manages severe temperature expansion and contraction cycles alongside direct blistering summer UV exposure without turning yellow, cracking, or peeling over years of exposure. For outdoor settings, always ensure you select the "Pre-Drilled" drainage variation so water can escape automatically rather than forming expanding ice blocks inside the core basin core during winter freezes.

How should I handle and care for the planter box immediately upon its arrival?

Because the premium automotive coating finishes its final stage of natural curing shortly before warehouse logistics packaging, we highly recommend unpacking the container carefully from its protective wrapping immediately upon physical delivery. Let the tapered bowl rest in open, natural air circulation to allow the paint finish system to completely normalize, and handle the unibody edges with clean, dry hands during your initial installation layout.

A HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL TAPESTRY OF EMOTIONS

With an almost dreamlike, fairy-tale quality to her every word, Mia Sheridan weaves a hauntingly beautiful tapestry of darkness and light, love and loss, pain and atonement, with a tale that transports the reader to a place where true love never dies, and where a spark of hope can find its way through even the smallest of cracks in an old, stone wall. Set against the vivid background of the mystical city of New Orleans, this is the story of two lonely hearts who find safe harbour in each other’s arms, but as they work together to unlock a mystery from the past, they begin to discover that the greatest battles sometimes lie within us, and that is where they must be fought. As always, Mia Sheridan’s storytelling is exquisite, transcendent, soulful, and just stunning. Shortly after moving to New Orleans to pursue a career in ballet, Clara Campbell finds herself awash in loneliness and uncertainty, the company of an elderly neighbour becoming her only respite from the melancholy that threatens to overwhelm her daily. And it is during one of her visits to her elderly friend that Clara learns of a century-and-a-half-old legend held within the beautiful, broken structures of Windisle Plantation. From the moment Clara hears the story of a beautiful young slave who fell for a handsome southern soldier, and whose spirits are said to be still trapped in the very place where their love affair ended so tragically, she begins to feel a strange pull to Windisle, beckoning her to explore the secrets held within its shadows. But instead of finding ghosts there, Clara meets a mysterious stranger hiding behind its walls. Holding himself responsible for the tragic events that led to his own scarred appearance, Jonah spends his days drowning in sorrow and loneliness, but from the moment he hears a young woman’s selfless wish whispered through the cracks in an old, stone wall, he becomes bewitched by her. They continue to meet week after week, spending time just talking, and sharing their innermost thoughts and fears with one another, even though that stone wall continues to stand between them. “𝘐 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘵. 𝘐’𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘢 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘪𝘵, 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦, 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘭.” As they slowly begin to piece the past together, getting closer and closer to setting the star-crossed lovers free from the curse trapping them at Windisle, Clara and Jonah also begin to fall in love. But it soon becomes clear to Clara that her velvet-voiced ‘wish collector’ might be living in a cage of his own making—never too far, but always far enough to be out of reach to her, their reality in so many ways echoing the very curse they are trying to break. The depth of emotion that Mia Sheridan is able to conjure on the page is breathtaking, her nuanced prose brimming with symbolism and sensuality, but her true gift lies in creating complex, fractured characters that have been bruised by life, but who find unexpected glimmers of hope and grace when they least expect it. The novel builds slowly with absolutely gorgeous language and setting, and with a dual timeline structure that sways gently from past to present, braiding the narratives together little by little, we unravel the past at the same time as the future unfolds before us. Both beautiful and tragic, this is the kind of story that sticks with you long after the final page. “𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦’𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘴, 𝘈𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘢. 𝘚𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦, 𝘸𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥. 𝘋𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘮𝘦?”

This was a beautiful modern day re-telling of Beauty and the Beast
Format: Kindle
This was a beautiful modern day re-telling of Beauty and the Beast set in an old plantation homestead in New Orleans. Jonah is a hotshot lawyer who was climbing his way to top when a case he was involved in led to a tragedy that ended his life as he knew it. He now lives a lonely life in his family home, the Windisle Plantation. This is a heritage building with a tragic tale behind it. Clara moves to New Orleans when she is selected for the prestigious ballet company there. She hears about the Windisle Plantation and the mystery behind the ‘weeping wall’ and seems to get fixated on finding out the truth of the love story behind it. After researching as much as she can, Clara turns up at the weeping wall with a wish. It is rumoured that if you write a wish and poke it into the wall it may be granted. However, Clara’s wish is like no other before her and she is shocked to discover that there is a person living behind the wall. Jonah has never interacted with anyone who visits his wall but Clara’s wish stands out. His quiet life has been interrupted by this exquisite, beautiful girl who seems hell bent on getting to know him. There may be a big wall between them but over time a beautiful friendship forms between them, one that seems to overcome the physical barriers. Jonah begins to realise just how lonely he has been. Clara enlists Jonah to help her solve the mystery behind the weeping wall. In doing so she is also trying to encourage him to come back into the light, rather than hiding away in the dark. Jonah finds himself saying and doing things he never thought he would do again. Clara’s persistence and determination is changing things for him. I absolutely loved getting caught up in this fairy tale filled with mystery, trepidation and a beautiful friendship between a beast and his beauty ☺

Magical!
Format: Kindle
Wowww. This is the first book in a long time that I did not want to end. I was entranced by Jonah and Clara’s story, and the whimsical romance that came along with it. The Wish Collector is sort of a Beauty and The Beast meets Phantom of the Opera vibe. Clara is a ballerina new to the New Orleans dance company. She just moved to this vibrant, mysterious city and has while trying to acclimate to her new surroundings, she hears the tale of The Weeping Wall, a local New Orleans legend that surrounds a tragic love story from the 1800’s. Clara is so intrigued that she decides to visit the site of this lore, the supposedly abandoned Windisle Plantation home. Jonah was once on top of the world as New Orleans royalty. A young lawyer on the fast track at a prominent law firm, handsome, the toast of every dinner—until tragedy strikes, and he shamefully has closed himself inside the walls of Windisle. It’s here that he meets Clara—and so our story begins! This story has mystery, intrigue, local legend, and so much whimsy. I could not put this down!! I absolutely loved the dynamic between Jonah and Clara. This was very much a romance filled with so much longing and emotion. There is definitely spice, but this is a slow burn. The circumstances surrounding Jonah make him feel like a monster and he struggles badly with his feelings for Clara—le swoooon! The tale of the Weeping Wall is a secondary love story with a shroud of mystery that Clara is determined to solve. She and Jonah work together to try to put puzzle pieces together, all the while writing their own love story ❤️ I absolutely adored this book, and I think would make for a great movie. Can’t wait to read it again!!

Great new author for me!
Format: Kindle
A beautiful story from start to finish. A New Orlean’s setting added to the enchantment. Early American history was portrayed so well - heart wrenching, yet such an important part of the story, leading to the lovely heart warming finish.

Such a wonderful story
Format: Paperback
Mia knows how to write a book! This one did not disappoint. Clara moves to New Orleans and has no one. She’s is starting fresh in the city as a ballet dancer. She had to leave her family behind and come alone for health reasons. Jonah has lived here his whole life. His life used to look a lot different. Successful and handsome he had anything he wanted. Until it all went wrong. Jonah now spends his life behind the walls of his families plantation. He hides away and regrets some of his life choices. Clara shows up at a wall bordering his plantation to make a wish. Except she makes a wish to help someone else. Jonah and Clara form a quick friendship and a bond that is strong. As time goes on Jonah realizes he needs to come back to the world and he can make it a better place. He doesn’t need to listen to all the hate. He needs to keep his eyes on those that love him. This story was so good. It showed how people grow and change and how they fight to do the right thing (most of the time) and want to make those the care about happy. This showed the fight that we all have for love and those we love. Such a good book!!!
