🌿 Amazon Sword (Large) (Echinodorus bleheri) is a fully rooted, mature background plant that brings instant height, structure, and biological filtration to natural tanks—no CO2, no root tabs, no bottled fertilizers. Bold green leaves and a deep root system make it a fast, reliable anchor for Father Fish–style setups.
Why you'll love it
- ✅ Big and bold—adds height, depth, and shade fast
- ✅ Naturally rooted—grown in soil without chemicals or boosters
- ✅ Low-tech compatible—no CO2 or liquid dosing needed
- ✅ Shrimp & fry safe—broad leaves and dense base offer shelter
- ✅ Great for immediate coverage in new tanks or rescapes
Care
- Lighting: low–moderate
- CO2: not required
- Substrate: deep organic soil with ~2" sand cap
- Placement: background or large tank center
- Growth rate: moderate to fast once rooted
- Tank size: 20 gallons and up
🌱 Plant deep in soil so the crown sits at sand level and then leave it undisturbed—your soil does the feeding. Skip root tabs.
Father Fish tip
“You want big plants? Start with a big sword in good dirt—no bottles needed.”
👉 Build a strong base with Aqua Preta soils, add quick growers from the Stem Plants Collection, and soften edges with the Anubias Collection.
