Spathiphyllum 'Platinum Mist' is an elegant houseplant, prized for its silvery-green leaves and graceful appearance. Its large, glossy foliage, lightly silver with green undertones, brings a touch of refinement to any indoor space. Its delicate, white, spathe-like inflorescences add an extra dimension of beauty to this already attractive plant.
Origin : Spathiphyllum, commonly known as the 'Peace Lily', is native to the tropical regions of Central and South America. The 'Platinum Mist' variety was selected for its unique aesthetic characteristics.
Growth : This plant has a moderate growth habit and can reach about 60 to 90 cm in height indoors. It forms a bushy and elegant habit. Spathiphyllum 'Platinum Mist' is particularly suitable for shady corners of rooms, where it can thrive.
Flowers : Spathiphyllum is known for its white, spathe-like inflorescences, which contrast beautifully with the silver foliage. The flowers can appear several times a year, adding a touch of purity and grace to the plant.
Light : This plant prefers moderate to low indirect light. It tolerates low light conditions well, making it a popular choice for dimmer rooms. Too much light can cause leaf burn.
Watering : Keep the soil slightly moist, but allow the surface to dry out between waterings to prevent waterlogging. In winter, reduce watering while maintaining a light humidity. This plant also appreciates ambient humidity.
Substrate : Use a well-draining houseplant potting mix. Adding perlite or sand can help improve drainage, preventing excess moisture that could damage the roots.
Toxicity : Spathiphyllum 'Platinum Mist' is toxic to pets if ingested, causing oral irritation and digestive upset. It is recommended to keep it out of reach of pets.
