Green Ohba Perilla, also known as Ao Shiso or Beefsteak Plant, is a vibrant Japanese herb prized for its aromatic, slightly spicy, and refreshing flavor—often described as a mix of basil, mint, and anise. With broad, serrated green leaves and a deeply fragrant scent, Green Ohba is commonly used in Japanese cuisine to wrap sushi, garnish dishes, or flavor pickles and salads. The plants are easy to grow, thriving in warm weather with plenty of sun, and can reach up to 2–3 feet tall. A favorite among chefs and gardeners alike, this heirloom herb adds bold flavor and beauty to both garden and plate. If reseeding is not desired, remove plants before seeds mature as this plant readily self-sows. Approximately 60-70 days to maturity. Each packet contains a minimum of 250 seeds.
