Embracing the heart of the Midwest, Sempervivum 'Ohio Burgundy' is a captivating succulent that hails from the rugged landscapes of Europe. This hardy perennial is renowned for its striking rosettes, which showcase a mesmerizing blend of deep burgundy and green hues, reminiscent of a fine wine or the rich, fertile soils of its namesake state. Each leaf is tipped with an elegant point, adding to the plant's allure and sophistication.
Sempervivum 'Ohio Burgundy' thrives in conditions that would challenge less resilient plants, making it an ideal choice for rock gardens, green roofs, or as a vibrant ground cover. Growing to a modest height and width of approximately 4 to 6 inches, its compact size belies the dramatic visual impact it can have when planted en masse or as a striking accent in a container garden. In the summer months, 'Ohio Burgundy' elevates its display with the emergence of pink, star-shaped flowers, perched atop tall stems that rise above the foliage, attracting pollinators and admirers alike.
Remarkably low-maintenance and drought-tolerant once established, this sempervivum does not ask for much, only requiring well-draining soil and a sunny spot to thrive. Its ability to withstand cold temperatures and even snow makes it a versatile and enduring addition to any garden. Whether nestled among rocks or spilling over the edge of a rustic planter, Sempervivum 'Ohio Burgundy' brings a touch of enduring elegance and the spirit of the wild, untamed landscapes from which it originates.
