Common Name:
Silver Heart Siberian Bugloss
Description:
Brunnera ‘Silver Heart’ is a striking, shade-loving perennial valued for its large, heart-shaped leaves marked with intense silver overlay and prominent dark green veins. This elegant foliage plant adds a luminous quality to shady garden areas, creating year-round interest even when not in flower. In spring, ‘Silver Heart’ produces sprays of small, forget-me-not blue flowers that rise delicately above the foliage, creating a soft, cloud-like effect. A cultivar selected for improved heat tolerance and thicker, more resilient leaves, it performs reliably in Melbourne’s cool-temperate climate and holds up well through summer. Ideal for planting beneath trees, along shaded pathways, or in woodland-style gardens, it thrives in moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter. This low-maintenance perennial slowly forms a tidy clump, making it a dependable ground cover or companion for ferns and hostas in sheltered garden settings.
