Bring a touch of the tropics to your garden with this beautiful cocoa plant, the source of real chocolate!
Cocoa is a small evergreen tree that thrives in warm, humid environments, making it a perfect choice for greenhouses, tropical gardens, or indoor growing in frost-free areas.
Description:
Our cocoa plants are grown from healthy, strong stock and are well-established in pots, ready to plant or keep as indoor specimens. With glossy green leaves and a compact growth habit, they make an attractive addition to any edible garden.
Growing Tips:
-
🌤 Climate: Prefers warm, humid tropical conditions. Best suited to North Queensland, or grow indoors/greenhouse further south.
-
💧 Water: Keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged.
-
🌿 Light: Bright, filtered light – protect from harsh afternoon sun.
-
🌸 Pollination: Produces small, delicate flowers on the trunk; hand pollination may help fruit set.
-
🍫 Harvest: Mature trees produce cocoa pods containing beans used to make chocolate!
Plant Size: Approx. 20–40cm tall in a 100mm–125mm pot.
Botanical Name: Theobroma cacao
Origin: Central & South America
Perfect for:
