These organic sweet alyssum seeds produce compact plants that blanket garden beds in a fragrant carpet of purple blooms, making them ideal for borders, pathways, and mixed flower plantings. Known for their dense clusters of blossoms, Royal Carpet sweet alyssum (Lobularia maritima) thrives in cool seasons and continues to bloom reliably with minimal care. The plants stay low and tidy, offering a delicate texture that softens hard edges and pairs beautifully with taller ornamentals. Their ability to attract beneficial insects adds value to edible gardens, where hoverflies and pollinators help maintain healthy plant communities.
These hardy blooms perform best in full sun to light shade and well-draining soil, making them versatile for containers, rock gardens, and landscape accents. As a dependable companion plant, sweet alyssum complements vegetables and flowers alike while enhancing color throughout the growing season.
To explore additional varieties that pair beautifully with alyssum in borders, pollinator gardens, or mixed plantings, browse our Flower Seeds & Bulbs collection, where you’ll find a full assortment of organic flower seeds to enhance your seasonal displays.
Did You Know? Sweet alyssum is widely used in integrated pest management because its nectar attracts hoverflies whose larvae help control aphids.
