Philodendron mayoi is a captivating plant known for its unique, finger-like foliage that adds an exotic flair to any indoor space. Its deeply lobed leaves make it a standout choice for plant enthusiasts looking for something out of the ordinary. This Philodendron is not only visually striking but also relatively easy to care for, making it a great addition to any plant collection.
The lobes become more pronounced as the plant matures and climbs, and the petioles carry a subtle red blush that adds warmth to the overall look. It is a vigorous, fast-growing climber that rewards vertical support.
Origins
Native to the Atlantic Forest regions of Brazil, Philodendron mayoi grows as a hemiepiphyte in warm, humid understorey environments. It was described relatively recently and named after the Brazilian botanist Simon Mayo.
Soil and Substrate
Our Monstera and Philodendron Premium Potting Mix is peat-free and formulated for climbing Philodendrons: open structure with worm castings for steady nutrition and the right balance of drainage and moisture.
