Plant Description:
Enhance your home or office with the sleek, sword-like leaves of the Snake Plant 'Zeylanica', also known as Mother-in-Law's Tongue. This variety of Sansevieria features long, upright green leaves with subtle, wavy dark green stripes, adding a modern, textured look to any space. Native to tropical West Africa, Zeylanica is known for being highly resilient, thriving in various conditions, and is perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a low-maintenance plant.
Care Tips for a Happy Sansevieria Zeylanica:
- Light: Tolerates low light but thrives best in bright, indirect sunlight. Can also adapt to partial shade.
- Watering: Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. Water sparingly, about once every 2-3 weeks.
- Soil: Prefers well-draining cactus or succulent soil mix. Avoid heavy, moisture-retaining soils.
- Temperature: Keep in a warm environment between 18°C and 27°C. Avoid freezing temperatures and drafts.
- Humidity: Does well in average household humidity. No special humidity requirements needed.
Plant Well-Being Signs:
- Overwatering: Leaves may become mushy and soft. If the base of the plant looks soggy, reduce watering and check for root rot.
- Wrinkling Leaves: This is a sign of dehydration. Increase watering slightly if the leaves begin to wrinkle or curl.
- Healthy Growth: Provide indirect sunlight to maintain the rich, striped pattern on the leaves.
