A Mediterranean Giant for Your Living Space
Phoenix canariensis XXL | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Not pet-safe
Summary: Bring the warm spirit of the Canary Islands into your home or terrace with this impressive XXL Phoenix canariensis. At 140 cm tall, it’s a true statement plant that transforms any room into a green oasis.
✨ Why You'll Love the Phoenix canariensis
- A majestic palm with feathery, arching fronds that radiate elegance
- Perfect for large living rooms, office lobbies, winter gardens, or bright terraces
- Thrives in European homes with good light exposure
- XXL size: 140 cm in height, delivered in a 26 cm nursery pot
🌞 Light & Placement
Phoenix canariensis loves bright, indirect to direct light. Place it near a south-facing window indoors or on a sunny balcony/terrace in summer. In Germany and across Europe, it thrives best indoors during the colder months.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep the soil slightly moist in spring and summer, but avoid waterlogging. In winter, water sparingly. Normal room humidity is sufficient, though occasional misting is appreciated in dry heating months.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining palm substrate or a mix of standard potting soil with sand/perlite. Repot every 2–3 years as it grows, upgrading to a larger, heavy pot for stability.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not considered pet-safe: the sharp leaflets may cause injury if touched or chewed by cats, dogs, or small children. Place out of reach in family households.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
This palm grows slowly but steadily, reaching impressive sizes over time. Propagation is typically from seed, which requires patience and warmth.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
In summer, you can place your Phoenix outdoors in a sunny spot. Before the first frost, bring it back inside. Protect from cold drafts in winter, as it prefers temperatures above 10°C.
🐛 Common Issues
Watch out for spider mites and mealybugs in dry environments. Yellowing leaves often indicate overwatering, while brown tips usually mean too little humidity.
🧬 Botanical Background
Also known as the Canary Island Date Palm, Phoenix canariensis is native to the Canary Islands. Famous for its resilience and grandeur, it is widely used in Mediterranean landscaping but adapts beautifully to European interiors as a houseplant.
