Glandularia maritima or Verbena maritima
Expand your native plant collection with a rare Beach Verbena plant. Also called coastal mock vervain, this salt-tolerant groundcover is listed as endangered by the state of Florida.
Plant your Beach Verbena in full sun in a space where it can spread slowly (rarely exceeding 1 foot tall). A full-sun planting ensures near year-round flowers in a showy purple or lavender hue.
Beach Verbena tolerates poor soil quality and even grows in salty sand. They’re excellent for stabilizing soil and preventing erosion. This long-lived perennial is ideal for coastal environments and attracts pollinators aplenty.
