The Philodendron pedatum × 'Bob Cee' is a striking hybrid that will instantly appeal to lovers of unusual foliage plants. This cross combines the deeply incised, almost oak-leaf silhouette of Philodendron pedatum with the robust, rich appearance of the mysterious 'Bob Cee'. The result is a vibrant plant that effortlessly combines elegance and exoticism.

Origin

This hybrid was created from a cross of Philodendron pedatum, a species native to the tropical rain forests of South America, and a plant that goes by the name of 'Bob Cee' appreciated by collectors and growers for its dark foliage and vigorous growth. Although 'Bob Cee' itself is not registered as a botanical species, it enjoys fame within the hobby world as an exclusive hybrid with unknown but presumably related parentage.

Characteristics

The leaves of the Philodendron pedatum × 'Bob Cee' are a visual spectacle: deeply lobed, elongated and changing in shape as the plant ages. The young leaves may start out relatively simple, but over time develop into artful shapes with pronounced fingers. The color ranges from fresh green to deep green with sometimes a slight bronze-green glow.

The plant grows climbing and forms impressive, larger leaves when given adequate support and light. Ideal for those looking for a statement plant with a natural, wild look.

Care

Light

This Philodendron does best in a bright location without direct sunlight. Too little light can cause elongated stems and smaller leaves.

Temperature

A constant room temperature between 18 and 28 °C is ideal. Protect the plant from drafts and cold below 15 °C.

Substrate

Use an aerated, well-draining substrate based on bark and coconut fiber or sphagnum, for example. A fine mix that does not hold moisture too short but never becomes soggy is essential. Thus, the composition should not be too coarse.

Humidity

A humidity of 60% or higher is highly recommended, especially to keep the leaf tips looking nice. Regular misting or using a humidifier can help.

Nutrition

During the growing season (spring to fall), give a balanced, low-nitrogen houseplant food biweekly. In winter, once a month or nothing at all is sufficient.

Watering

Keep the soil slightly moist, but always allow the top layer to dry out between waterings. Preferably use demineralized water or clean rainwater to avoid calcium deposits.

Flowering

Although flowering is extremely rare for this hybrid indoors, Philodendrons are flowering plants. If an inflorescence does appear, it will usually be inconspicuous and of little decorative value. The plant is kept primarily for its foliage.

While traveling in Ethiopia as a tourist.
Format: Kindle
It is a very concrete and well written history of Ethiopia. While traveling in a photo tour I decided I wanted to know more of the contrasting country my shoes were on. I think this short book completes my need to my entire satisfaction

Informative, compact history of rulers, religion and struggles.
Format: Kindle
This book is well written. It filled out my knowledge of Ethiopia, which was mostly that it was isolated from neighbors and most empires. I had heard of biblical contacts, two Italian invasions, civil wars and famines. In this book I learned of contacts with ancient Rome, Byzantium, the Ottomans, and Arabs. Trade carried on the silk road, and by sea. There was influence of Judaism, Islam and competing Christian sects. The sequence of leaders were covered as well as how they came to power. Many conflicts are covered, insurrections and invasions. The Haile Selassie period is covered, as well as his downfall. Then the military period is covered, with communism and factionalism. Finally the recent period is covered,up to the present civil wars of 2022. I would recommend this compact book, for anyone planning a visit, or wanting background knowledge.

Format: Paperback
This is a fake book written by AI. It reads worse than a Wikipedia article and is a complete scam.

A Rough, Rocky Start
Format: Kindle
Modern Africa started after a long rough and rocky start. This book describes the trials each district has had to face to gain their freedom from Europe and what life was like in each district under the control of foreigners. As WWI began, many of Africa's districts were effected, some were forced to supply fighting men, some had their resources used to support the war effort, and some had fighting in their area. When WWII started Africa found that not much had changed. However, as Africa gained its freedom and became self governing internal wars broke out between the different tribes. Well, you will have to read the book to find out how that turned out. This book covers all that and so much more. It all written in an easy to read and understand format that Captivating History is known for and as always they do a great job of explaining everything. This is a great book and recommend you giving it a read.

An Overview of an Oft-Overlooked History
Format: Kindle
Depending on your ethnicity, you may, or may not, know a lot about Africa. This book summarizes the Continent’s history, highlighting the major events and occurrences that contributed its current geopolitical state. Africa today is made up of 54 countries, 2000 languages, 20% of the Earth's land mass, and 1.4 billion people. It therefore should play an important part in the World, today (which it does, but one that rarely makes the headlines in USA TV or newspaper coverage.) The Author covers, Slavery, European Colonization, Africa’s part in World Wars One & Two, and the various Religious histories going back to the time of Christ. Since the author is American, there is a portion devoted to the USA’s main relationships with different African Nations. All this culminates in a surveillance of the numerous African Civil Wars of the last 50 years leading to the reality of the current geopolitical scene. The section on Dictators and Revolutionaries is limited to one of each. I’m guessing there could have been more. Still, if you are looking for an overview of Africa as it is today and what contributed to its present situation, this is an excellent beginning point.
