Chufa Seed | All Natural
Scientific Name (Cyperus esculentus)
Wildlife Food Plot Seed for Turkey, Deer & Game Animals
Seed Ranch Chufa Seed is a premium-quality, all-natural wildlife food plot seed designed to attract and support wild turkeys, deer, ducks, wild hogs, and other game animals. This untreated, Non-GMO chufa seed produces energy-rich underground tubers that deliver an excellent source of protein, carbohydrates, and healthy fats, helping improve wildlife nutrition and increase feeding activity throughout the season.
Chufa (Cyperus esculentus) is one of the most widely planted warm-season wildlife forage crops for turkey management and hunting properties. As the plants mature, they develop clusters of edible underground nuts that wild turkeys naturally scratch and dig from the soil. The high-energy tubers remain available into fall and winter, making chufa an outstanding long-term food source for wildlife retention and habitat improvement.
Ideal for food plots, hunting leases, wildlife sanctuaries, and recreational land management, Seed Ranch Chufa establishes rapidly in warm weather and performs well in areas where corn and other warm-season crops thrive. Mature chufa plots help encourage repeat wildlife visits while supporting healthy game populations year after year.

Chufa Seed Wildlife Benefits
Chufa is especially valued for its ability to create concentrated feeding areas for wild turkeys. Mature birds instinctively scratch through the soil searching for the underground tubers, creating highly active feeding zones throughout the property. Deer and other wildlife species are also strongly attracted to the sweet, nutrient-dense nuts during periods when natural forage becomes limited.
Under proper growing conditions, each chufa plant may produce dozens of underground tubers, creating a dependable and renewable forage source that continues delivering wildlife attraction long after establishment.

Soil Preparation & Growing Tips
For best establishment, prepare a clean and weed-free seedbed before planting. Chufa performs best in well-drained sandy or loamy soils with adequate sunlight exposure. Consistent soil moisture during germination helps promote strong early growth and improved tuber development.
In heavier clay soils, lightly discing sections of the plot during fall or winter can expose mature tubers and encourage additional wildlife feeding activity during colder months.
