Description: Annnoa Squamosa, is a small, deciduous, well-branched tree / shrub that bears edible fruits called Sugar Apples or Sweetsops. It tolerates a tropical lowland climate better than its Annona relatives helping make it the most widely cultivated of these species.

Uses: The fruit is eaten fresh and has spherical-conical shape, with a thick rind composed of knobby segments. The color is typically pale green to blue-green. The flesh is fragrant, sweet, creamy and tastes like vanilla custard.

Care: Sugar apple trees are tropical plants and grow best where the temperature ranges from 50 - 85 degrees Fahrenheit. Full size trees do best in full sun. Take care to slowly acclimate seedlings to full sun locations, as they have been living in partly shady conditions. Seedlings and young sugar apple trees are cold and wind sensitive, take precautions when necessary. Dropping leaves and spots on leaves are common during the colder months.  Whether planting in the ground or in containers, the soil should be well-draining. Wet soil can promote diseases in sugar apple trees. Although older Sugar Apple Trees are drought tolerant, regular watering is required especially when flowering and fruiting. Fertilizing the soil is necessary especially in the early years. Mulching at the base of the tree helps with weed control and moisture retention.

Zone Notes: Sugar Apple Trees can be grown outdoors in USDA growing Zones 9-11, or in a pot in Zones 4-11 and brought inside during colder months or freezing temperatures.

NOTE: The item pictured is similar to the plant you will receive. Plants are unique; the shape, color and number of leaves may sometimes vary. Some fruit trees and other Tropical plants may have spots or lose leaves during the cold months. Contact our shop if you have any questions. All Plants and Fruit are grown with care on a small family farm in South Florida.

Better than thin plastic boards
I used to use one of those thin/bendable plastic cutting boards, thinking it's easier to transfer food into pots/pans from the board, but they tend to get bent in time and they're simply too thin and I hated the feeling of my knife pretty much hitting the kitchen counter. So, I decided to buy this set. I wanted to try a wooden board, but didn't want to spend too much in case I didn't like it, and this set had the perfect price tag and I liked the fact it came with 4 different sizes, so that I can see what size would actually be more useful. I've been using it for 2 months now they're doing great (except one of them started splitting a bit and started showing some strange black dots on the side... possibly mold??? though I can't think of any reason why mold would grow on just one of them. Maybe it's related to the fact that it's the only one that's cracking. And this is the only reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5.) Anyway, apart from that one, the rest are doing well and having 3 boards is plenty. I like the juice groove to avoid spilling liquid on the board, as it happened so many time using the bendable plastic boards. I'm handwashing them with dish soap. They seem to dry pretty fast, and so far no stains etc. on the surface. They're not super duper thick so even the largest one is not too difficult to handle. I sometimes use them to serve some food like appetizers, snacks, pizzas and sandwiches, etc. too!

Updated review: spitting and splintering
UPDATE: Originally, one of the boards arrived with a split in it, but I was still happy with them. After a few weeks of light use, hand washing and drying of the boards, I figured it was time to update this review and knock these down to 1 star. The boards do not hold up very well. Cut marks are deep, and they are starting to splinter. Another of the boards has also developed a split. Save your money and go with cutting boards from someone else. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought these cutting boards to cut down on microplastic exposure. This would be a 5 star review except that one of the boards arrived cracked (noticed while hand washing all of them before use). Despite the one cracked board, I did not return them, as I immediately started using the boards, was too busy to deal with it at the time, and the overall value was still there. These boards are great, the value is excellent since you get several of different sizes. I like that all sizes have the moat for juices, because sometimes you are cutting one or two chicken breasts or one steak and don’t want to have to grab a big board. I honestly am writing this review because I wouldn’t be surprised if the company sends me a replacement. If they do, I will update the review to reflect their customer service.
