Ready to add some dramatic flair to your indoor plant collection? The ZZ Black Raven, Zamioculcas zamiifolia 'Raven', is a true showstopper! What makes this plant so unique are its striking leaves that emerge a vibrant lime green and gradually mature into a rich, glossy, almost black hue. This color transformation is mesmerizing and provides a sophisticated contrast to any decor.
As an easy-care houseplant, the ZZ Black Raven is often dubbed the "plant to survive the apocalypse" because of its incredible resilience. It typically grows to a manageable size of 2-3 feet tall and wide, with an upright, sculptural form that makes it perfect as a floor plant or on a large tabletop. It thrives in a wide range of light conditions, from low to bright indirect light, though brighter indirect light will encourage more vigorous growth. In Prescott's sunny climate, just be sure to keep it out of direct, scorching sun. The 'Raven' is also incredibly drought-tolerant, thanks to its thick, water-storing rhizomes; it prefers to dry out completely between waterings, making it an excellent choice for those who might occasionally forget to water. While its beauty is undeniable, please note that ZZ plants are considered mildly toxic if ingested, so it is best to keep them out of reach of curious pets and small children. Its unique color and low-maintenance nature make the ZZ Black Raven an absolute must-have for any plant enthusiast!
