The Philodendron Congo Green is a popular houseplant known for its glossy, dark green leaves and robust growth. Here are some key points about it:
Appearance
Leaves: Thick, waxy, and deep green; heart-shaped and can grow quite large.
Growth Habit: Typically upright, making it an excellent choice for adding vertical interest to indoor spaces.
Care Requirements
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate low light conditions. Direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.
Watering: Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
Humidity: Enjoys higher humidity levels; consider misting or placing it near a humidifier.
Soil and Fertilization
Soil: Well-draining potting mix, such as a mix for aroids or a standard houseplant mix amended with perlite.
Fertilization: Feed with a balanced liquid fertilizer every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer).
