The surface is a dark green mottled with lighter green banding and spots, and the leaf is thick, rigid, and leathery. It is a slow grower that makes a bold, architectural statement with minimal foliage. Over time it may produce additional leaves or offsets, but a single mature leaf in a pot is the classic look. Extremely drought-tolerant and low-maintenance.

Origins
Native to the tropical forests of central Africa, particularly the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sansevieria masoniana grows in warm, shaded conditions on the forest floor. Despite its tropical origins, it is exceptionally tolerant of dry air and neglect.

Soil and Substrate
Our Desert Mix provides the sharp drainage this species prefers. Water when the substrate is fully dry and reduce watering further in winter.
