The Golden Pothos (Epipremnum aureum), also known as Devil’s Ivy, is one of the most popular and low-maintenance houseplants. It features trailing vines with heart-shaped green leaves variegated with yellow. This hardy plant is an excellent air purifier and thrives in various indoor conditions.
Care Guide:
- Light: Tolerates low light but thrives in bright, indirect light. Too much direct sunlight can scorch the leaves.
- Watering: Allow the soil to dry out between waterings. Water when the top inch of soil is dry. Overwatering can lead to root rot.
- Soil: Prefers a well-draining potting mix. A blend of peat, perlite, and pine bark works well.
- Humidity: Adapts to average indoor humidity but appreciates higher humidity levels.
- Temperature: Prefers temperatures between 65-85°F (18-29°C). Keep away from cold drafts.
- Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings placed in water or soil.
- Growth: Fast-growing, especially in warm and humid conditions. Can trail or climb with support.
- Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested due to calcium oxalate crystals.
