A little burst of sunshine for your indoor jungle
Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' Baby P6 H10 | Fast EU shipping | Grown with love in the EU | Pet-safe: No
Summary: This cheerful Philodendron glows with fiery orange new leaves that fade into chartreuse and deep green as they mature. Compact, vibrant, and low-maintenance – perfect for brightening up German apartments and European homes.
✨ Why You'll Love the Philodendron 'Prince of Orange'
- Unique orange-to-green foliage that changes colour with age
- Compact growth, ideal for desks, shelves, and small spaces
- Hardy and easy-care, great for beginners
- A real mood-booster during darker European winters
- Comes as a baby plant (P6, approx. 10 cm) ready to grow with you
🌞 Light & Placement
This Philodendron thrives in bright, indirect light. Too much direct sun can scorch its delicate orange leaves, while too little light will reduce its vibrant colour. Place it near an east- or west-facing window in your flat for best results.
💧 Water & Humidity
Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feel dry. Like most tropicals, it appreciates higher humidity, but it will also adapt well to average European indoor climates. Mist occasionally in winter when heating dries the air.
🪴 Soil & Potting
Use a well-draining aroid mix with added perlite or orchid bark to prevent root rot. Repot your baby 'Prince of Orange' into a slightly larger pot every 1–2 years as it matures.
🐾 Toxicity & Safety
Not pet-safe. Like most Philodendrons, this plant contains calcium oxalates that can irritate cats, dogs, and small children if ingested. Place it out of reach if you share your home with curious companions.
🌱 Growth & Propagation
Expect a compact, bushy growth habit, with leaves emerging in a vibrant orange crown. Over time, the plant reaches up to 60–80 cm in height indoors. You can propagate through stem cuttings once it has matured.
📆 Seasonal & Special Care
During the active growing season (spring and summer), fertilise monthly with a balanced houseplant fertiliser. In autumn and winter, reduce watering and skip feeding to let the plant rest.
🐛 Common Issues
- Brown leaf tips: Usually from dry air – mist occasionally.
- Fading colour: Move to brighter indirect light.
- Yellowing leaves: Often a sign of overwatering.
🧬 Botanical Background
The Philodendron 'Prince of Orange' is a hybrid cultivar, prized for its rare orange foliage – a true standout in the Philodendron family. Unlike many climbing species, this variety grows in a self-heading rosette form, making it naturally compact and tidy for indoor spaces.
